To celebrate the return of our 'Break & Enter' industry insider, we have the nitty gritty with the delectable upcoming English Rose, Lola Gatsby!
Q. What made you get into adult work?
My insatiable desire for pussy and cock. I'm just playing with you. Though that's a bonus.
I have always been fascinated by sex and the adult industry, since I came across my first glimpse of a porn magazine, and the images of glamour models in tabloids in the 90's heyday. Not only was I excited by these glamorous women, but I loved what they symbolised to me: bold, beautiful women who were comfortable with their sexuality. Some might think it bizarre, but I believe I internalised the value of agency in my own sexual behaviour by looking at these women.
I started in porn when I finished University. I had been looking for work and agreed to shoot freelance with a photographer to tide me over until I “got a real job”... a year later, and I am not looking back.
Q. What project would you say was the highlight of your career so far?
The transition from amateur to pro porn was a big deal to me. Shooting in a gorgeous remote location for the amazing Joybear team was a real milestone. Shooting for Pure on behalf of some big names has also been a real pleasure.
Though I believe the fans that follow me would say my fake taxi and fake agent scenes... I have taken another ride in the cab recently, so keep an eye out for that.
Q. If there’s anyone you could work with, who would it be and why?
I would actually love to work for big mainstream names. Brazzers, Digital Playground, DDF, Evil Angel, Wicked Pictures, Penthouse, Playboy, the Metart group... I have many names on my goal list. I think I would be a bit of a wild card for them, because I'm not the typical porn girl. I think there would be fireworks.
It's an ambition of mine to shoot for Holly Randall too. I think her photographs really celebrate feminine beauty, you can't take your eyes off of the girls she picks...
The top of my list though: anyone who is trying to do something special, people that want to break the mould in porn. I love Courtney Trouble, Petra Joy, Erika Lust. Four-chambered are really awe inspiring too.
And of course, the incomparable Red Roxy... awww.
Q. Name 3 things that are a must in porn.
In my opinion? Real personalities, mutual pleasure... and good lighting to set it all off.
Q. What are your best assets?
I'd put my money on my mind. I am very driven and these days it helps that I have exactly what I want clearly worked out.
Q. What’s the funniest thing you have encountered on set?
Being humped incessantly by the set dog while working for Pure who were shooting on behalf of Daring. I was told he (the dog) was attempting to establish dominance.
Q. How do you engage with your fan base?
I am very active on social media. I am permanently fused with Twitter (@lggatsby), and I usually stop by my Adultwork cam room for a chat between 8PM-2AM most days. For the true believers, there is also a monthly/yearly subscription available to my Snapchat via Adultwork and they get to see at least one picture of me every day... some naughty, some nice.
I am also starting to make public appearances: I have set my sights on a few but I know for certain that I will be attending the Sexhibition Expo in Manchester this year. I might also be popping my head in at XBIZ, and the UK award shows like The UKAP and Paul Raymond Awards. Make sure to come along and say hi, I love the company!
Q. What’s the toughest thing about being a Pornstar?
I think you can have a hard time convincing people that you are a real human being with real human feelings and a life beyond porn. So that can make it hard to stay human. To be an explicit exhibitionist in today's society makes you automatically something of a social pariah. It's tough, but I have a thick skin. I keep going because I believe it is important to stay true to your convictions. Mine is that one should never be ashamed of their sexuality. Never. No matter how many people are critical or judge you because of it. We're all adults here and it's time for us to start acting like them, particularly with regard to our attitudes about sex.
It's not a big deal.
Q. What would you like to see happen in the future of adult entertainment?
I would like to see a real measure of social acceptance: I think the greatest example of which I heard recently was seeing porn stars treated like mainstream public figures, for example being featured as guests on game shows or talk shows, where they are not just there to be made an example of.
I would like the see the industry shift their focus to personalities, rather than bodies, like the mainstream modelling industry has. There can be more to porn than just pretty faces.
Q. What’s your next project and can you give us any exclusive info?
I am busy like you wouldn't believe!
My action plan is to hit the USA in January 2016, so please keep your eyes peeled for that. I'll be in Europe this summer, shooting all sorts of content for my own site that I have planned, as well as working for some kick ass companies . Not forgetting to take some time out, of course. Probably to stuff my face and lie in the sun in Italy, or hit up the cool music venues in Berlin. I'm keen to see if I will be taken anywhere else on my travels.
Back home for now though, there is talk of appearances on live sex shows. I have another big pro-production coming up in May which I have to keep on the down low about, because it really is in it's infancy. I can tell you that I am going to be shooting a scene for a production by the fabulous Angel Long, and tomorrow I will be working with the legendary Ben Dover.
A whole lot, right? And I am only just getting started.
