And if you all about the AM groove, we’ve got steamy tips from the pros that will blow your boo’s mind.

But before you get started—why do sex docs and experts swear by a morning session between the sheets? It’s simple. “The best part of morning sex is that you are rested and relaxed. Relaxation is the foundation of arousal and in the morning before the hustle and bustle of your day is a perfect time to get sexy with your partner,” says Megan Fleming, a sex and relationship therapist in New York City. Bonus: “Testosterone levels are higher in the morning leading to increased sexual desire,” offers Shannon Chavez, a psychologist and certified sex therapist in Los Angeles. Read on, and throw back your comforter (or not!) STAT...

1. Pleasure yourself first.
“Mornings start slow for most people so morning sex shouldn't be too startling or athletic,” advises Gloria Brame, sex therapist and author of Sex for Grown-Ups. “Stoke your own flames by caressing yourself to excitement, then start working on gentle caresses and soft kisses to your partner's body.” Once things heat up with your partner, don’t feel like you need to make a beeline to the bathroom to brush your teeth: “If you have a feeling that sex might be next, take a quick sip of water to take the edge off,” suggests Laurel House, dating coach and co-host of The Great Love Debate podcast.

2. Slink into some steamy oral.
“Some people react negatively if you dive for their genitals right away [so start with tip #1], but a little foreplay in the morning goes a long way, especially for women,” says Brame. “Oral sex is usually a quick and low-key way to get someone off in the morning, and a perfect way to quench desires in a dreamy state.” Need to give your man a nudge? Here’s how to get him to go down on you (and make it mind-blowing, to boot).

3. Or go for that 69.
“69 is a great position for morning sex because you don’t have to worry about morning breath or feeling self-conscious about how you look,” offers Chavez. “You can use your hands and mouth to stimulate your partner’s body and explore sucking, licking, caressing, and pleasuring your partner with your mouth and hands.” (Hey, you're going to have to brush your teeth after you get out of bed anyways, so you might as well do it before you even get up for the day.)

4. Say hello to shower foreplay.
Pressed for time? Then crank up your shower and kill two birds with one...nozzle. “Sex in the shower can wake you up and be a sensual way to start your day,” says Chavez. But first, try this: “Start with lathering each other up and feeling the sensations as the water hits your body. Kiss and caress your partner and explore different forms of touch and stimulation.” Remember, shower sex doesn’t necessarily mean penetration. You can opt for hand stimulation or mutual masturbation to make things steamy while you suds up.

5. Then indulge in some full-on shower sex.
First off, you’re gonna want lube here. Why? “Although it may seem counterintuitive, any and all attempts at shower sex should include lube. The abundance of water washes away a woman’s natural lubrication, which can have a drying effect and make penetration uncomfortable,” advises Emily Morse, host of the Sex With Emily podcast (and friend of Glamour). Now, onto the fun stuff: “An evening shower might allow more time to pull off those more adventurous positions, but in the early hours keep them safe and simple. Start off standing with your hands pressed against the shower wall and your legs slightly spread, and have your partner enter you from behind.” As you anchor yourself with your hands planted on the wall, this will free up your partner’s hands to roam all over your body. Wanna take things up a level? Try Morse’s recommendation and splurge on a toy like this vibrating mesh sponge.

6. Try some spooning.
Sure, you can’t kiss in this position. But if morning breath is a concern (see #1), swing this and still feel intimately connected to your partner. “If you sleep in the spoon position, simply press those spoons together a bit closer,” House comments. ”Shimmy off your underwear and press your butt up against your erect man. He can wrap his arms around you, holding your stomach and breasts and pulling you even closer as he thrusts inside you.” To make it steamier, move your hands between your legs and gently cup and massage his balls. If you’re not an early bird enthusiast, consider this: “Spending time side-by-side and engaging in sex can release oxytocin—the hormone responsible for feelings of connection and safety,” says Chavez.

7. Get off in cowgirl.
“In contrast to the spooning position, cowgirl may seem like a lot of work. But considering the fact that it’s one of the most orgasmic positions for women, and you’re waking up early to do the deed anyway, you might as well get the most bang for your buck,” Morse suggests. With a guy on his back and you holding the reigns up top, you’ll get full control over depth and speed—so you can zoom in on what feels best for you. Pro-tip: “Instead of bouncing up and down on your guy (which, let’s face it, it’s probably way too early for), try rocking back and forth or swiveling your hips. This motion puts perfect amount of pressure on your clitoris, hopefully resulting in a pretty powerful orgasm.” As for flooding your body with all those feel-good hormones? That’s a damn good java-free morning jolt we can get behind.
